Avent Bottles

From the manufacturer's site:
"Avent has the only bottle that is clinically shown to reduce colic. Plus, the soft, naturally shaped nipple encourages baby to latch on in a way that is similar to breastfeeding. No matter if you choose reusable bottles or the new Tempo Disposable System, you can rest assured you are giving baby the very best with the flexibility you deserve"
We received a ton of Avent bottles for our shower and as gifts. So when the girls were born we thought we had the bottle situation sorted out.
That is until we discovered that the Avent bottles had a tendency to leak. At first just a minor nuisance, but as time went on the leaky bottles became a real issue.
The leak comes from the threads where the ring lid attaches to the bottle. I have read that this can be due to over tightening of the righ lid. Though in my experience, the leaking occurs when the bottle and the ring lid are not completely dry. Seems like it would b easy enough to keep them dry, but it isn't.
We ended up switching to Playtex Ventair bottles and have been much happier.
We switched to these
We switched to these VentAire bottles and have had a lot less leaking issues.
We didn't have the leaking
We didn't have the leaking problem, but I'm always pretty careful about putting the bottles together. I also air dry all of the bottle parts, so maybe that helps? I really like the Avent bottles, one of my twins does much better with it than she did with regular bottles. Her brother doesn't care...he will eat anything, any time!
we used the advent bottles
we used the advent bottles too(with cain) and they leaked ,,,i did like them but seeing how many washcloths and burp cloths the dh went through to feed the baby was funny...this time i bought dr smiths...they get really good reviews and i liked the inside system of the bottle for less gas(cain needed a special formula we called liquid gold)....my sister used the venti air from playtex and she like them....i will let you know how dr smith does....
I worked in a daycare, in
I worked in a daycare, in the infant dept., for over 6 years. I think we had every kind of bottle since we had 12 babies.
I think that there is something wrong with evey bottle. The advent bottles did leak around the cap, the playtex ventair leaked from the bottom if it wasn't on tight enough, the Dr.Brown's inside straw piece sometimes came apart, the playtex nursers the liners broke sometimes. I guess it just depends on our luck!!! That's what it seems like anyways. ~~~~~~~~~~SORRY~~~~~~~~~~~~
